Readers, if you haven't done ziplining, you simply must!! No matter what it takes, do it. My friend Jon and I went this morning on this gorgeous fall day, October 25, 2011, at 10am. It's an exhilarating, aesthetic experience like no other. Check these two YouTube videos (with a few of my pictures afterwards); I couldn't download or embed Navitat/Asheville's excellent videos to this server, so please check out their site directly: http://www.navitat.com/asheville/ It'll be the best 3.5 hours you've spent in a long time. There are 11 zip lines each running from 400 feet to over 1100 ft. long, traversing steep ravines of 200 ft. deep, and actually putting you in the treetop canopies. There are also two treetop platforms from which you have to rappell down, and a few Indiana Jones-like suspended bridges that test your balance and bravery. Our group of eight and the two guides (Derrick and Nate) were fantastic!! The guides' knowledge of the ecosystems was astounding and their winning personalities infected everyone. Safety is virtually guaranteed (you'll see the redundancies make it safer than walking, seriously), as is the fun... Please check them out: http://www.navitat.com/asheville/ Edward zipping along at 40mph Ah, yes, life is good! Glee! My Asheville friend Jon Case
